What this calculator does

This is a rough educational simulator based on common credit bureau heuristics. Select actions and see an estimated score change.

The math

New score = current score βˆ’ sum of selected point penalties. Penalties are fixed: missed payment βˆ’80, maxed card βˆ’45, new inquiry βˆ’5.

Worked example

A 700 score with a missed payment and maxed card drops about 125 points to 575.

Why this matters

Most people underestimate the cost of small interest and fee decisions. This calculator turns the hidden math into a number you can act on today.

Methodology and transparency

This page publishes the exact formula used to compute the result, so you can verify it in a spreadsheet or check the assumptions against your own situation. The worked example uses the tool default inputs; change any number and the result updates live in your browser. No data is sent or stored.

Common questions

Is this a real credit score?

No. Real scoring models are complex and proprietary. This is a rough estimate for educational purposes.

Can my score recover?

Yes. Negative marks fade over time, especially if you keep payments current and balances low.
