Cease & Desist Letter Generator
FDCPA Cease and Desist Letter Generator
What this calculator does
This tool fills in a basic template so you can request that a debt collector stop contacting you. It is not legal advice.
The math, with a worked example
String template with your name, collector name, and account number inserted. The generated letter cites the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and demands cessation of communication about the specified account.
Why this matters
Collection calls are optional: federal law lets you order a collector to stop contacting you, in writing, and the demand is enforceable. The letter is a template with your details โ the power is in the statute, not the wording.
Methodology and transparency
The generator inserts your name, the collector, and the account into a letter invoking the cease-communication right under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 U.S.C. ยง1692c(c). Two limits matter: it binds third-party collectors, not the original creditor collecting its own debt, and stopping contact does not erase the debt or stop a lawsuit โ send it certified and keep the receipt. Everything runs in your browser; no data is sent or stored.
