Ramen vs Bulk Rice Timeline
Ramen vs Bulk Rice Breakeven Calculator
What this calculator does
Bulk staples are cheaper per serving than instant ramen. This calculator finds the breakeven point.
The math, with a worked example
Ramen daily cost = pack cost ÷ servings. Bulk daily cost = bag cost ÷ servings. Days to pay off = bag cost ÷ daily savings. A $6 ramen pack with 24 servings costs $0.25 per serving. A $20 bulk bag with 100 servings costs $0.20 per serving. The bag pays off in about 400 days.
Why this matters
Bulk only saves money if you live on it long enough to clear the up-front cost. A $20 rice bag beats $0.25 ramen servings by a nickel a serving — which means about 400 days to break even. Cheap per serving and slow to pay off are different things.
Methodology and transparency
Per-serving cost = package price ÷ servings for each option; days to pay off = bulk price ÷ daily savings. The servings estimates carry the result — underestimate how much you actually cook per day and the payoff stretches further. The tool also assumes the bulk buy displaces the ramen 1-for-1 every day, which real eating rarely does. Everything runs in your browser; no data is sent or stored.

Does this include nutrition?
No. It is a cost comparison only.
